Medicare’s conditional payment recovery right extends throughout the life of a claim and a coordinated approach is required to limit exposure and avoid costly demands.  Beyond the long arm of conditional payments, penalties loom for employers and insurers that fail to properly notify Medicare of claims involving Medicare beneficiaries.   This one hour long presentation will discuss the important Federal Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) obligations faced by all parties in a Texas workers’ compensation claim.  Join ExamWorks Clinical Solutions’ Marty Cassavoy and Brad James as they outline tips and tricks to avoid the long arm of Medicare in Texas Workers’ Compensation.

Speakers:

Marty Cassavoy is the Vice President of MSP Compliance for ExamWorks Clinical Solutions.  Marty and his team develop solutions to challenges in all areas of Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) compliance and across all insurance types.

Marty has been on the frontlines of just about every important moment in MSP compliance since the middle of the last decade.  He is a trusted expert on both the technical and policy aspects of Section 111 reporting; sought-after advisor on investigating, addressing and responding to conditional payment matters; and an experienced innovator who has lent his expertise to develop program-level solutions of many of the industry’s most pressing problems.  Marty is a frequent speaker, commentator and writer on all aspects of MSP compliance, where he is often unafraid to challenge the conventional approach to Medicare problems.  Marty is a member of the ExamWorks Clinical Solutions Leadership Team, providing strategic guidance for the organization’s MSP compliance products and services.  In his day-to-day role, Marty leads the Compliance Team where he and his talented team collaborate to solve problems, react to industry changes and build innovative MSP compliance solutions.

Marty’s team’s goal is to simplify Medicare Secondary Payer compliance and improve problem solving skills rather than simply present a laundry list of problems.  With this aim in mind, Marty and his team develop engaging and informative MSP compliance educational programs for clients and the industry at large.

Prior to joining ExamWorks Clinical Solutions, Marty was Vice President of Policy at ISO Claims Partners, where he worked for more than a decade and where he - at one time or another – managed the Section 111 reporting, Medicare Set Aside and conditional payment investigation and mitigation departments.  Marty is a graduate of Boston University and Suffolk University Law School in Boston, where he graduated with honors.  Marty is a lawyer licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  Outside of the MSP compliance world, Marty can often be found at a baseball diamond, soccer field, basketball court or hockey rink where he is either watching or coaching one of his three children.

Marty is based in the Boston area and can be contacted by phone at 781-517-8085 or email at [email protected].
