Meril Philip began his career with the City of Sugar Land in 2011 as a safety intern, transitioning to a full-time employee at the end of his internship. During this time, the City of Sugar Land was in the midst of developing a comprehensive safety program. Philip assisted with the development of policies and procedures concerning workers’ compensation, safety training, safety committee, accident review board, safety audits and inspection, and others. These policies and procedures remain the cornerstone of the City’s current safety program.

Philip earned his bachelor of science from Texas Southern University and is currently working on a master’s degree at Columbia Southern University.
